Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan preforms a rendition of the esoteric poem, “Nami Danam..” by the great Sufi poet and gnostic, Shaykh Amir Khusro (qs) – spiritual successor of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (qs)
“I am obsessed with the thought of him, I do not know where I have been.
So overwhelmed by being with him, I do not know where I have been.
I do not know what place it was, where I was the other night.
Ecstatic death surrounded me, where I was the other night.
Beauties from another world, like Cypress trees, with tulip cheeks.
Confounded and dumbfounded me, where I was the other night.
My rivals strain their ears, jealous that I’m close to him.
But I found it hard to speak, where I was the other night.
And God Himself presided there, in that place beyond all space.
Muhammad (s) was the burning flame, where I was the other night!
Muhammad (s) was the candle which burned in caves for forty years,
before bringing light to the world!”
