Allah (swt) tells us in the Quran:
“Lo! We revealed it on the Night of Power.
Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Night of Power is!
The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.
The angels and the Spirit [Jibril] descend therein, by the permission of their Lord, will all decrees.
(That night is) Peace until the rising of the dawn.”
-Surat al-Qadr: 97
We have now entered into the last 10 days of Ramadan, and with them comes the increased possibility of us witnessing Laylat al-Qadr, or The Night of Power. As the Prophet (salallahu alayhi wasalam) has said, “Seek it in the last ten days, on the odd nights.” [Bukhari and Muslim from Abu Sa`id al-Khudri (Allah be pleased with him)]
As we continue with our lives and worldly affairs, lets try to make an effort to make some extra dhikr and nafl salah before going to bed after tarawih, and then to wake up a little earlier than usual so that, in the silence of the night, we may implore our Lord (exhalted is He) for his mercy and forgiveness, and ask to be better, more pleasing servants to Him.
May Allah (swt) grant us the Night of Power now and in the years to come. Ameen.
